I’m becoming a camera ponce… As a fan of both photography and video production it can be a little frustrating only having a mobile phone camera when something epic happens. Whether is something magical such as your daughter’s first experience toasting marshmallows, or something scary, like finding a giant spider in the garage, the shots you get on a phone camera never seem to be as good, as with a professional camera.
However, the convenience of the mobile phone, means that it is always ready for action and many of my pictures are on my phone. Similarly, in order to be taken seriously on video channels such as YouTube, it is recommended that you use the proper kit. But with every generation of phone, the camera gets steadily better and the more apps encourage users to use the phone camera instead of a professional DSLR.
YouTube, Periscope, Blab and Facebook to name a few all use the phone camera as standard and it was here the Olixar 3-in-1 Lens Kit really peaked my interest. When i’m not making videos of my weekly exploits, I break out my Canon 650D and capture the life of my family and friends. Being a camera ponce, I tend to switch my lenses on a regular basis. However, I do love my macro lens, as it gives great depth of field and allows you to turn the seemingly mundane into something beautiful. The condensation running down a glass, an ant climbing a blade of grass. Macro lenses are great fun and having one on for my phone has changed what shots I go for and expanded the styles of photos in my library.
The third lens is the fish eye lens, that I though was only good for making skate videos. It turns out I’m wrong and the fish eye allows you take a photo of a much larger space your phone is currently capable of. Sure, the image looks distorted but used properly can create some amazing shots.
All of the lenses in the kit are lightweight, easy to carry, easy to attach and allow you the freedom, to both expand the shot and get close up.
They can be a little loose sometimes, if not put on with care and if you have a case like my Rhino Shield outer rim case, you are best off removing it before adding the clip.
It’s not often that good gadgets come at affordable prices, so i was extremely happy with my Olixer Clip.
