When you become a daddy for the first time, it can be terrifying. Loads of guys find the idea of having to look after a child scary. No matter how much you think you have prepared yourself, there will be some aspects of the job (and it is a full-time job) you didn’t expect. If you are a father-to-be, you might be looking for a little advice. Well, here are seven amazing and scary things you should know about your newborn baby.
1. Your baby will sniffle when he or she sleeps
At night, you might hear some strange noises coming from your baby’s cot. Don’t panic. Those sounds are normal. Most children tend to sniffle while they sleep. It doesn’t necessarily mean that your child is ill or that they have a cold. Go and see your baby to see that they are okay, and you should have no problems.
2. They won’t always look like a little angel
People tend to think that their baby will always look like a little angel. Sure, sometimes your child will look angelic and sweet. Other times, though, they will look like a devil (especially when they are screaming their little head off). Make sure that you capture the good moments. Get an expert like newborn photographer, Hillarry to come and take some classy pictures of your child. That way, when you look back at this time, you can remember when your newborn was cute and adorable.
3. Don’t be afraid of your baby
Some parents are afraid of their baby. They are not afraid that their child will hurt them; they worry that they will hurt their baby. Sure, small kids are fragile things, but you need to pick them up and hold them to create a bond. If you shy away from doing so, you will find that your baby craves comfort, and so tends to cry a great deal.
4. Sometimes, they will scream for hours
There will be times when your baby cries for no real reason. You can do everything for your child, but sometimes they will decide to cry and yell. This problem tends to be a massive challenge for new parents. You have to have the patience to see things through and comfort your child all the time. It is not easy, but it will be worthwhile in the end. Take it in turns to see to your baby so that you share the burden.
5. Some children look quite strange (at first)
When your partner gives birth, you might find that your child is quite odd looking. Many newborns look funny right after they arrive. If your child looks weird, you should not stress about it. What is important is that your baby is happy and healthy. They will grow into their features over time. For now, celebrate their individuality.
6. Strangers will want to talk to your baby
When you are walking down the street, strangers will come up to you and start talking to your child for no reason. They might pull faces at your child or wave at it. At first, you will find this super weird. Sometimes, people will ignore you and direct their words to your kid, even though your baby can’t talk.
7. You will need loads of spare baby clothes
Babies tend to throw up all the time. In fact, it ‘s hard to keep a newborn baby clean all the time. The best thing you can do is have a load of clean baby clothes (wet wipes) on hand. That way, when your child is sick, you can just reach for the next outfit.
